What is Grant Funding?

The VCS Alliance distributes grant funding on behalf of our commissioning and contracting partners. These grants differ from contracting and commissioning because they are intended to give grass-roots and smaller community organisations access to light-touch grant awards.

Grant funding awards will always have a smaller value than our contracting and commissioning opportunities. All our grant awards are either:
Micro grants – £50 to £500
Small grants – £500 – £2500

All our micro and small grants are expected to be delivered within 12 months of the grant award. It may be a one off event, or a project that runs for 1 to 12 months. Often they may be small scale pilot projects.

These grants aim to:
– Enable smaller grass-roots groups to develop a delivery record
– Tackle health and wellbeing issues in communities
– Undermine the wider social determinants of health that impact in communities
– Build capacity and resilience across the VCSE sector.
